Terms & Conditions

Please read the following carefully before applying.  Agreement to these terms & conditions forms a legally binding contract between Salon Contemporary Arts and yourself.

Submission to Salon Contemporary Arts Summer Show 2024 means that you agree to the following terms and conditions:

  1. There is no submission or exhibition charge for showing with SCA (Salon Contemporary Arts).  Instead, all sales are subject to 25% commission.  Please ensure you factor this into the pricing of your artwork.

  2. You are required to participate in both preparation for the show and the exhibition itself.  This participation includes joining our Messenger or WhatsApp group where we post updates and relevant information for the exhibition.  Artists are also required to attend the opening of the show and invigilate the show for a minimum of one 3 hour slot.

  3. You must ensure your work is complete and ready to display.  Incomplete works will not be accepted.

  4. 3D/sculpture artists are required to ensure their works are safe and suitable for exhibition. Plinths will be supplied for you use.  Plinths for large works will need to be supplied by the artist. 

  5. 2D artists are required to frame and attach suitable fixings for hanging on the walls.

  6. Work can only be displayed on SCA exhibition walls at The Museum of Making, Derby.  You cannot hang works on the museum walls. 

  7. Artists are required to insure their work for the duration of the exhibition.

  8. Artists are required to complete an inventory of work before installation at the museum.  All works (including prints & merchandise) must be listed individually on these forms.  Works not listed will not be allowed into the exhibition.  This is primarily to facilitate sales.

  9. All sales must be processed through an SCA point of sale.  Attempting to subvert this condition of sale may lead to legal action.

  10. Promotional material to advertise  other events , exhibitions or workshops  is not allowed at the exhibition with the exception of business cards.

  11. Artists are required to attend installation and take down of work at The Museum of Making.  If this is not possible, you may appoint a proxy to do this for you.  You must submit the names and contact information in advance for this person/s.

  12. Successful submissions will also be entered into our Collectors Choice Award.  This award is judged by a selection of SCA collectors.  No SCA staff are involved in deciding the winner.  Prize fund is £500.00 cash. You may also opt out of this award.

  13. You must provide a Certificate of Authenticity for all of your artworks.  Please get in touch if you need any assistance with this.

  14. You are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner for the duration of the show.  This includes clients/visitors, fellow artists, SCA staff and Museum staff.

  15. SCA will do their best to accommodate your ideas for displaying your work.  However the curators decision is final.

  16. You will be expected to help with marketing for the show via sharing posts/links on your website/social media and distribution of flyers to your clients.

  17. The artist must indemnify the organisers against any claims made by a member of the public due to accident or injury caused by the artwork being incorrectly or dangerously installed. Also, artists must agree to indemnify the organisers against any refunds requested on sales due to artwork being faulty or unstable for purpose.

  18. Artists have 14 days after the closure of submissions (submissions close 31 January 2024) to rescind their application.  After this time, pulling out of the exhibition will make the artist liable for costs incurred by Salon Contemporary Arts on their behalf.

  19. SCA reserves the right to use any images and related material supplied by you to promote Salon Contemporary Arts exhibitions.
